Introduction: An increasing notion suggests that aldosterone contributes to the development and progression of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Experimental studies documented an upregulation of cellular adhesion molecules, which are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, after administration of aldosterone.
